Vocational Interest Survey for Australia (VISA)

The VISA is the only measure of its type developed and normed specifically for the Australian context. The items of the VISA reflect the occupational descriptions contained in the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO).

Consisting of 64 work descriptions on which candidates rate their preferences, (1 = low interest to 7 = high interest), the VISA is simple to administer. Record Booklet readibility is set at the upper primary level. Most of the scoring may be undertaken by the candidates themselves, if the test administrator considers this appropriate.

The vocational interest dimensions comprise of eight scales:

1. Caring
2. Culture
3. Service
4. Managing
5. Clerical
6. Science
7. Practical
8. Environmental

The Manual contains a wide range of practical suggestions and case studies to assist with VISA interpretation.
